Police: Fire Destroyed Truck, School Bus Accident, IPod Found in Snowbank

Wednesday, Feb. 25

At 4:10 p.m., assist building inspector on Hanson Street.

At At 5:51 p.m., vehicle fire at Walgreens on Boston Street. Fully engulfed pickup truck. Salem Fire on the scene. Owner of the truck was driving down Proctor Street when the dashboard burst into flames. He pulled the truck over into the Walgreens parking lot and called 911. The truck was a total loss, and vehicle was towed.

At 6:26 p.m., motor vehicle accident in the rear of the high school on Wilson Street. Minor accident between a motor vehicle and a school bus. Several students on the bus. No injuries. Minor damage. No citations issued.

At 6:41 on Bridge Street. Walk-in reported possible fraud. She told officers that she had been in an online relationship for over two years, and had given the man a large amount of money over that time.

At 6:58 p.m., fire reported on Barstow Street. Stove fire.

At 10:45 p.m., vehicle stuck in snow on Franklin Street.

Thursday, Feb. 26

At 10:10 a.m. gas odor on Highland Avenue and Proctor Street. Salem Fire and National Grid on the scene. Road blocked at both ends until the leak was repaired.

At 10:12 a.m., malicious destruction of property over $250 on Pope Street. Tenant-landlord ongoing dispute. Tires on two vehicles damaged.

At 12:21 p.m., temporary no-parking tow zone established from 1 to 4 p.m. on both sides of Federal Street. Judicial conference at the court complex.

At 2:51 p.m., iPod found in a snowbank on Clifton Avenue and turned in to police.
