(SHARON, MA) – Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease, memory loss or another form of dementia can be a marathon journey that often goes unrecognized outside the home. On Thursday, January 28, at 7:00 pm, HESSCO Transition Programs Coordinator Patricia Gavin and Care Manager Terry Tomasello take the lectern at the Sharon Public Library (SPL) for the next installment of the Our Partners in Health (OPH) community education series. Their program, titled Caring for the Caregiver, will be held in the Cynthia B. Fox Community Room and is free and open to the public.

The 90-minute interactive discussion will look at ways to make caregiving easier and less stressful. Among the topics will be a “Fashion Show for Caregivers,” featuring apparel appropriate for the many situations in a caregiver’s life and adaptive equipment and clothing for care recipients.

A longtime HESSCO employee, Gavin has served in many different roles, including care manager, care management supervisor, and caregiver specialist. In her current position as transition programs coordinator, she assists consumers and caregivers in achieving successful transitions from one care setting to another. Tomasello has been employed by HESSCO for a dozen years and has also served in many capacities, including information and referral specialist and transitions counselor. She currently serves as a care manager.
