Sharon High Students Vying for Hood Scholarship

There are plenty of student-athletes in the halls of Sharon High School deserving of recognition.

Several in particular are close to receiving that recognition thanks to the annual Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship Program. But they need the community's help.

Four Sharon students are finalists for the national award, which will give the 18 winning entries $5,000 each.

Residents are encouraged to vote for the winner now through April 18 at 3 p.m. Each entry includes an essay on why the participant should be selected for the scholarship.

Sharon's Joshua Ader, for example, tells the story of how he's dedicated his time to the Special Olympics.

She's joined by classmates and fellow Hood finalists Cecily Chase, Danielle Fisher, and Edward Xu as Sharon's representatives in the contest.
