(VIDEO) East Fifth Graders Win 'Battle'

The students won the 'Battle of the Brains' against Cottage and Heights on Sunday.

If Sharon's and schools ever forget who won Sunday's "Battle of the Brains," students can give them a history lesson.

Specifically, "Name the first five U.S. presidents."

Only East's students knew the correct answer (George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe), in Final Jeopardy, to win the Jeopardy-style contest among the three elementary schools' fifth grades.

The National Honor Society sponsored the event, held in the high school auditorium.

The proceeds will be donated to the Perkins School for the Blind. A brief video about the school was shown before the game's first question.

The event resembled the TV game show Jeopardy in all but name.

Students chose and answered questions from five categories -- English, social studies, math, science and entertainment -- to Sharon High student Lyle Swartz, who served as host.

Questions ranged in point value from 100 to 500 in the first two rounds, called Single Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy. Teams could wager some or all of their earnings on the Final Jeopardy question.
