Man Arrested After Union Square Bank Robbery

A 23-year-old Burlington man allegedly robbed the East Boston Savings Bank in Somerville’s Union Square Saturday morning.

A Somerville Police detective spotted a man, matching the suspect’s description, walking fast roughly a half-mile from the bank soon after the robbery at about 9:20 a.m.

The man, later identified as Robert Tedesco, of 78 Bedford St., Burlington, had red dye on him from the bank dye pack that exploded, police said. When asked if he had just robbed the bank, Tedesco said, “I did it … you got me,” according to police.

Police arrested Tedesco and charged him with unarmed robbery.

East Boston Savings Bank is at 37 Union Square.
