Somerville Bicyclist Arrested in Union Square

The bicyclist allegedly refused to identify herself to a police officer after running a red light.

A Somerville bicyclist was arrested Wednesday evening in Union Square after she allegedly refused to identify herself to a police officer after running a red light.

Jessica DaSilva, 29, of 10 Glenwood Road, Somerville, was arrested shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, and charged with a bicycle violation, being a bicycle violator refusing to identify self, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, according to police.

DaSilva allegedly didn’t stop at a red light at the corner of Bow Street and Somerville Avenue. She allegedly refused to identify herself to an officer and attempted to walk away before she was arrested.

DaSilva “actively resisted” being placed in handcuffs and screamed at the arresting officer, police said.
