Police Rescue Woman From Collapsing Boston Building

Police found the woman trapped inside an apartment in a badly damaged building overnight.

Police rescued a woman from an overnight building collapse early Wednesday morning in South Boston.

The woman heard inside the building when police arrived to 62 O Street at around 1:45 a.m. The above residence has separates from the adjacent building, and there were bricks and debris all around.

Officers say the main door was locked and they could not contact other residents, so they forced their way in through the front door.

Officers found the woman trapped inside a second-floor room where the door frame had been badly damaged. The officers kicked in the door and rescued the woman.

Police then evacuated nearby residents and established a collapse zone with caution tape.
