Walsh's Choice for Staff Chief: Smart Pick or First Stumble?

Is the young chief a sign of Boston's fresh start or a signal that Mayor Walsh has some lessons to learn?

Walsh's Choice for Staff Chief: Smart Pick or First Stumble?
After missing his own soft deadline for selecting a chief of staff, Marty Walsh chose a young outsider to head his office. The new mayor tapped 29-year-old Daniel Arrigg Koh as chief of staff. Koh, has worked reviously at Government Center, advising Mayor Thomas Menino.

He most recently worked as general manager for HuffPost Live, a streaming video service offered by the Huffington Post. Koh has also served as a consultant for the New England Patriots, Major League Baseball and other high-profile organizations.

While Walsh and supporters lauded the choice as part of a fresh start for Boston, Peter Gelzinis at the Herald wasn't so sure. His post on the Koh selection started with "Daniel...who?" and featured skeptical quotes from city hall insiders.

What do you think? Is the Koh selection the right way for the new mayor to start fresh in Boston? Or should Walsh have picked someone with more insider knowledge of the city and state's byzantine political system? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
