5 Things, February 13: More Snow on the Way for Stoughton?

"Five Things you Need to Know Today" is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance.

1. More Snow on the Way?

As if this area needs more snow, that's exactly what is in the forecast for the overnight hours, according to the National Weather Service, with a chance of snowfall, mainly between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday.

But this won't be anywhere near the blockbuster amounts we received over the weekend. FOX25 expects this area to receive a coating to 2 inches. WBZ and Channel 7 predict even less - no more than an inch of snow.

2. Reminder: Winter Parking Ban Still in Effect

The following is from the town website:

In accordance with the Traffic Rules and Orders of the Town of Stoughton no vehicles other than one acting in an emergency shall be parked on any street, sidewalk or any municipal off–street parking area for a period of time longer than one hour between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. on any day from Dec. 1 to April 1.

The fine for violation of these parking regulations is $15 for each offense and/or towing of vehicle at owner’s expense.

Residents are also reminded that the Town of Stoughton will not be liable for any damage done to mailboxes, shrubs, lawns, fences, steps, sprinkler heads or trees which are within the street layout due to snow removal activities.

3. Stoughton High Sports on Tap

The Stoughton High boys' and girls' basketball teams are in action Wednesday evening, Feb. 13.

The boys' host Canton, while the girls' travel to Canton. Both varsity games start at 6:30 p.m. JV games start at 5 p.m. and freshmen games start at 3:30 p.m.

And, the Stoughton High Hockey team takes on Attleboro at the Alexio Arena in Taunton Wednesday at 8 p.m.

4. Teddybear Storytime at the Library

Come join Peggy Sewcyk Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Stoughton Public Library for Teddybear Storytime. It's for children ages 3.5 to 6 years old.
