Father Joseph Mazzone was recently named the new pastor the Immaculate Conception and St. James collaborative in Stoughton by the Archdiocese of Boston. He will be replacing Father Joe McDermott of Immaculate Conception and Father John Kelly of St. James.
He will be coming from Hull where he is the pastor of St. Mary Parish. In August of 2012, he sat down with
thegoodcatholiclife.com for an interview on how he became a priest. He grew up in Rhode Island, went to the University of Notre Dame (class of 1987) to new Orleans for a service project working with the poor, went to Prague, working as a journalist for the Prague Post and then to Boston where entered the Blessed John XXIII Seminary. The seminary is for those who decide to entry the priesthood later in life.
He was ordinated May 24, 2008 after working in human services industry. Mazzzone started at Sacred Heart in Weymouth before going to Hull, Feb. 1, 2011, becoming a pastor in just three years.
