Haynes Principal Search Down to Two Candidates
Candidates for the position visited the school on Thursday and participated in a parent forum on Thursday night.
In an email to parents earlier this week, Superintendent of Schools Anne Wilson announced that Sharon MacDonald, currently principal at C.A. Farley Elementary School in Hudson, and Siobhan McKenna Dennis, now the principal at Glenwood Elementary School in Rutland, are the finalists for the position.
Each candidate visited Haynes on Thursday, with a parent forum of 30 minutes taking place from 7:30-8:45 p.m.
Below is a complete list of each candidate's credentials, according to the email to parents from the superintendent.
Sharon MacDonald: Ms. MacDonald currently serves as principal of the C.A. Farley Elementary School in Hudson, a position she has held for the last 7 years. Prior to her time as principal in Hudson, Ms. MacDonald served as a kindergarten and 2nd grade teacher for Weston Public Schools and as a special educator and 3rd grade teacher in Connecticut. Ms. MacDonald earned a Master of Education degree in Special Education from Boston College and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in elementary education and Special Education also from Boston College.
Siobhan McKenna Dennis: Ms. Dennis currently serves as Principal of the Glenwood Elementary School in Rutland. Prior to her time as principal in Rutland, Ms. Dennis served as Assistant Principal and Special Education Team Chair in Rutland and as a 5th grade teacher in Acton. Ms. Dennis is currently engaged in a doctoral program at Lesley University and holds a Master of Education degree in Urban Education and Teacher Research from Clark University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Culture with a minor in Elementary education also from Clark University.
The interview committee for the position was made up of Jeff Clemmons, Stefanie Gumas, Jan Love, Michelle Marino, Jeanmarie Skahan, Stefanie Reinhorn, Trina Waitkunas, Julie Gibowicz, Alison Giorlando, Stephanie Wiltshirte, Debbie Dixson and Christine Hogan.
