New Board of Selectmen Chairman Won't Be Named at Town Meeting

During most years, the rearrangement of the Board of Selectmen is made at Annual Town Meeting. That won't be the case this time.

New Board of Selectmen Chairman Won't Be Named at Town Meeting
Normally when the final night of Sudbury's Annual Town Meeting wraps up, new members of the Board of Selectmen are sworn in and a new chairman is chosen.

For the second time in recent years, that won't be the case this time around.

Last year, a new chairman was not chosen until later than normal because of the election that was held to fill two spots and increase the Board of Selectmen from three members to five members.

At this week's Board of Selectmen meeting, outgoing Chairman John Drobinski added the job of naming a new chairman to the agenda for the meeting scheduled for May 20, though the reason for the change was unclear.

When the new board takes shape, Drobinski will be replaced with incoming selectman Patricia Brown, who topped the ticket during this year's Annual Town Election on March 31.
