Sudbury's Adam Ravenelle Records Final Six Outs to Clinch College World Series National Title

The Lincoln-Sudbury pitcher closed out Vanderbilt's championship win.

Sudbury's Adam Ravenelle Records Final Six Outs to Clinch College World Series National Title
When the final out of the College World Series was recorded on Wednesday night, there was a wild celebration on the pitcher's mound. And right in the middle of it was a familiar face for many Sudbury residents.

Sudbury resident Adam Ravenelle recorded six clutch outs to earn the save for Vanderbilt, which won the national championship in a 3-2 victory over Virginia.

Ravenelle came in to a sticky situation in the bottom of the eighth as there were two runners on when he was summonsed.

But the local right hander got the first out on a sacrifice to start things in the right direction. Ravenelle hit the next batter, and then with the bases loaded recorded a ground out force play at home and ended the inning with a grounder to shortstop.

The ninth was drama free for Ravenelle, as he set down the Cavaliers in order to seal the national title.
