U.S. Supreme Court to Rule On Gay Marriage Case, Benefits

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear the case of California's ban on gay marriage, which could be a landmark ruling for gay marriage nationwide, according to the Associated Press.

The court said toady it will also review a federal appeals ruling that struck down the state's ban on gay marriage and whether Congress can stop married gay couples from receiving the same benefits a heterosexual couple may receive, says the New York Times. Currently, the Defense of Marriage Act limits such benefits for same-sex couples including pension and health benefits, says the AP.
