On Friday night, the Lincoln-Sudbury boys hockey team survived its North Division 2 quarterfinal game against Winthrop, earning a 2-1 win.
But the story doesn't end there for Winthrop players and coaches.
According to multiple media reports, Winthrop coaches and possibly players are accused of allegedly drinking alcohol at the team's home rink when they returned from their game versus Lincoln-Sudbury, a loss that ended the team's season.
MyFoxBoston.com reported that there are allegations that Winthrop players were drinking in one locker room of Larsen Skating Rink at the Eruzione Center while coaches were drinking in another. The news station reported that the rink is connected to a Winthrop middle school, where the team's locker room is located.
Police allegedly discovered empty beer cans and the odor of alcohol at the rink after an officer spotted a light on in the building at around midnight.
"The important lesson to take out of this is make smart decisions and choices when you are participating in these events," Delehanty said,
