5 Things To Do This Weekend


Here are five things to do in Swampscott this weekend. 

Cheer:  plays its home opener against Winthrop Saturday at noon at Blocksidge Field on Humphrey Street. 

Listen: Here's a list of performances on Saturday in Salem:

O’Neill’s has Irish music from 6-9PM tonight and every Saturday.  

Seaport Café has Jazzport with Maureen BensonCool jazz vibe here and I think a pleasant night to sit on their patio. Check out their new menu too.

Rockafellas has DIEzAL. That’s the way it’s spelled on rocks website so I’m continuing it here.

Gulu Gulu has Brad ByrdShow starts at 8.

The Lobster Shanty has Ronnie and Company of JT and the Hounds fame.  Stop on by for a listen.

Reunion rock the waterfront down at Vic’s Boathouse.

In a Pigs Eye are featuring  Jahn I Roots.

Howling Wolf has Noe Socha TrioI have seen and heard Noe and he’s not to be missed. A native of Italy, he is just amazing on guitar.

Soul Rebel Project rock the waterfront down at The Black Lobster. Get out and enjoy the nice weather while you can. Makes for nice memories during those January blizzards. Showtime at 8PM.

Watch: Local chefs battle it out in a Farmers Market Style Throwdown on Sunday from 10:30 am to 1 pm. Each chef will be allotted $35 to spend at the market. 15 min to shop, a few minutes to gather their thoughts and 1 hr to prepare the ultimate dish for judging. Watch the make shift kitchen heat up as the chefs go head to head.

Buy: Buy handcrafts by local craftswomen at the  Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm in the parking lot at 

Who: Knitting Circle of the Swampscott Senior Center

What: Arts & Crafts booth at Swampscott Farmers Market

When: Sunday, September 16th from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Where: Swampscott High School (front parking lot)

Why: Select from bountiful array of beautifully handcrafted items at terrific prices (e.g. scarves, handbags, sweaters, American Girl doll clothes, notecards and prints) - plus, proceeds help fund activities for local seniors

Clean:  Swampscott Football Cheerleaders will be having a car wash on Sunday Sept. 16th at the DPW yard from 9-1.  $5 per car.
