Letter to the Editor: School Building Committee Says Thank You

Committee members extend their appreciation to Town Meeting members for their support of the feasibility study.

Letter to the Editor: School Building Committee Says Thank You Letter to the Editor: School Building Committee Says Thank You

On behalf of the School Building Committee.....Thank You Town Meeting Members.

We truly appreciate the nearly unanimous vote to fund the Feasibility & Schematic Design Study at the Special Town Meeting.  As SBC Chairman Joe Crimmins stated Monday evening, “this is solely the next step in being able to make an educated decision regarding our [Swampscott’s] elementary schools”. Over the next several months, the school district, SBC and Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) will be working together on the Feasibility Study.

The SBC wants to thank and recognize Dr. Lynne Celli, Superintendent of Schools, and her staff for the time and energy they put forth into completing the voluminous documentation that was required.  Dr. Celli's knowledge of the MSBA process, and willingness to interact with various town boards was very important.  Also, thank you to the Michael McClung and the Finance Committee, and Town Administrator Tom Younger and his team, for providing expert analysis in preparing for the Special Town Meeting.  As the town moves forward, additional documentation and meetings with the MSBA will require their continued diligence and efforts.

Most importantly, we are committed to ensuring that the community is well informed throughout this process. We will continue to send periodic emails and press releases on a going-forward basis.

As always, if you have questions, please ask any member of the School Building Committee.

Sincerely,

Glenn
