UPDATE: Woman Reported Finding Body Parts Inside Lobster Trap

Police are on the scene.

Update, 11:18 a.m., Thursday:

It was 8:04 a.m., when a woman called police to report finding human remains on King’s Beach.

According to the Swampscott Police Department log, she contacted police and waited for units to arrive across the street.

Update, 10:35 a.m. Wednesday:

A person walking along Swampscott’s King’s Beach Wednesday morning discovered human body parts and contacted police.

“The body parts were found near a lobster trap that appears to have washed up on shore,” according to a press release from the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

Essex County DA’s Office Spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan said it is too early to speculate as to the identity, gender or age. Swampscott Police and state police are currently on the scene removing the remains to be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification.

Human remains have been found on King’s Beach in Swampscott, according to NECN.

Fox Boston reports that it appears the remains washed up during the blizzard, but it is unclear how they were discovered.

Police are investigating at this time.
