Swampscott Swimmers Fall to Lynn English

The Big Blue seniors received flowers at their last home meet of the year.

Teammates cheered at the JCC pool Thursday, their voices rolling over the water and bouncing off the walls.

In the pool and above swimmers and divers arched and powered their bodies through the water and air.

In the end, the Lynn English swimmers and divers won the meet 117-69, putting Swampscott's record at 1-3 on the season.

Coach Meaghan Simpson said the Blue team is improving steadily.

She said the team is "just waiting for it all to click together."

Swampscott got good swims Thursday from Erin Cassidy in both the 50 and 100 freestyle, from Caitlin Rogers in the 100 fly and 100 backstroke, and from Stefanie Borneman in the 100 backstroke, the coach said.

The team celebrated its seniors at the last home meet.

The seniors: Kristen Foaksman, Lindsay McKinnon, Claire Michaud, Lizzie Galvin, Alex Hamzeh, Meg Wynne, and Captains Erin Cassidy and Cymantha Rogers.

Big Blue's next swim is Tuesday against Danvers at Danvers.
