2 People Pulled From Merrimack River In Apparent Drownings

Authorities said both victims were fully clothed and had no signs of trauma.

LOWELL, MA — Two people were pulled from the Merrimack River Saturday morning in what authorities are calling apparent drownings.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent Kelly Richardson said a fisherman called in a male body in the river behind LeLacheur Park. Police arrived and found a female body near the male one.

Both of the victims were fully clothed and had no signs of trauma. As of Saturday afternoon, they had not been identified.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is looking into how the victims died.
