Theater takes center stage at Senior Center.

Historical Society Presents "Schmoozing With Sophie" Tonight

Saturday, May 21st, will be Town Clean-Up Day. As a part of clean-up the Town will be planting a “rain garden” at the Senior Center the day before on May 20th. We are looking for volunteers to work with Town personnel to establish this garden. A sign-up sheet is located at the Senior Center reception desk.

Those people helping with the Senior Citizen’s Parade Float should note that float decorating will take place on Friday, May 27th at Dennis Sheehan’s garage at 9:00 AM.

Many thanks are extended to our volunteers who worked at the Breakfast Benefit held this past Sunday and to all those who patronized the event. The winner of the drawing was Janet Deshaien.

The next Senior Center Breakfast Benefit will be held on Sunday, June 5th from 7:30 to 11:00 AM.

A trip to the UMass Lowell Inn for a matinee dinner and play “THE PORCH” is being held on Saturday, June 4th. THE PORCH, written and directed by the international known Jack Neary, is a play about three ladies of a certain age who discuss things that ladies of a certain age discussed in 2002…..like the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. The ladies are funny, insightful, incisive, and they abandoned their censorship long ago. As the Labor Day weekend transpires, we get to know them, and their long-suffering husbands. A mystery unfolds involving one of the ladies. The drama in THE PORCH sneaks up on you as you laugh and laugh…when life attacks suddenly, its friendship alone that provides the bridge to tomorrow. Being that the director is originally from Lowell, the scene takes place in Lowell and the porch where conversations take place is located across the street from a well know church parking lot in Lowell which adds to the delight of the play. Tickets through the Senior Center are $50 and include transportation. Others interested in reserving tickets which are $45 may call 978-984-3151.

Tickets are now available for the Foxwood day trip of Wednesday, June 8th. The cost is $21 per person and includes motor coach transpiration and a casino package.

The Friends shall hold its next monthly dance on June 10th from 7-10 PM. Music for the evening will be by the Entertainer’s Band. Tickets may be purchased ahead or at the door at $10.

Tickets are also available for a trip to the Old Country Buffet and Vanity Fair. The cost of this trip will be $32 and includes mini coach transportation and lunch. A date will of June 15th or 22nd will be decided on by this Thursday. One may call the Senior Center at 978-640-4480 to check.

The Seniors will hold a Giant Indoor Yard Sale on Saturday, June 25th from 9 AM to 2 PM. Table space may be reserved at $15 per table or $25 for two tables. One may now register at the Senior Center. The public is welcome to participate in this event. For more information one may call 978-640-4480 or e-mail Linda Brabant at lbrabant@tewksbury-ma.gov.

Beacon Hospice, Inc. is providing an Alzheimer/Dementia Caregivers Support Group at the Tewksbury Senior Center, 175 Chandler Street, on the 1st and 4th Wednesday of the month from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. The public is welcomed to join this free support group. Lucille Bonanno, group facilitator, invites residents to add a new dimension to his/her role as a caregiver.
