A home at 22 Astle St. in Tewskbury exploded Tuesday night.

Update, 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 25

Two males and a female have been taken, via Medflight helicopters, from the Astle Street home to area hospitals.

The helicopters landed in the Walmart parking lot, which is less than a mile from the scene.

As of 11 p.m., Astle Street was completely blocked off, as crews were still working the scene. Police, firefighters and National Grid workers have been in the area of the home, which is several hundred feet away from Main Street.

The explosion took place at about 9:15 p.m. According to the Lowell Sun’s Robert Mills, @Robert_Mills on Twitter, Tewksbury police have been searching for two individuals a witness saw fleeing the home shortly before the explosion.

Tewksbury firefighters are on scene of a reported house explosion on Tuesday night, with multiple residents reportedly suffering burns.

According to multiple scanner reports, a home located at 22 Astle Street suffered an explosion, possibly related to a kitchen stove.

The blast caused a second alarm to be struck due to flames in the home, and according to reports, there were three people in the home who suffered burns.

Three Medflight helicopters were requested to the scene, scanner reports indicated. Mutual aid was requested from Andover, Wilmington and Billerica.
