Police issue warning to residents.

Police: Report Of A Black Bear In A Residential Neighborhood

issued a reverse 911 call Wednesday evening after a black bear was reportedly sighted in the area of Sesame Streetand Doherty Way off Whipple Road.

Officers and Animal Control were unable to locate the bear and confirm its appearance in the residential neighborhood. However, police are warning residents to use caution and not to approach the bear if it emerges from the woods again.

The following is a text of the reverse 911 call made by police:

"This is the Tewksbury Police Department calling regarding the unconfirmed sighting of a black bear in the area of Doherty Way and Sesame St at 9:15 this evening. Residents are advised to bring in pets, take down bird feeders and secure refuse containers.
If you see the bear Do not approach the bear call 911. Call At:
978-851-7373."
