Dead Male Found In Lake Quannapowitt

Police investigating after body found at 8:56 Sunday morning.

The body of a deceased male was found this morning in Lake Quannapowitt along the Church Street side of the lake.

Wakefield Police Chief Rick Smith and Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan report that at approximately 8:56 a.m. police received a report of a body in the water along Church Street. According to several bystanders at the lake Sunday afternoon the body was discovered closer to the softball field side of Church Street.

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders located a deceased male. Though it is very early in the investigation, there are no obvious signs of foul play.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Wakefield Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

In a separate incident, a man's body was pulled from Walden Pond in Concord Sunday evening.
