Wakefield Drug Bust Seizes Over 100 Grams, 8k in Cash

A 67-year-old man was arrested on heroin trafficking charges after a month-long investigation.

WAKEFIELD, MA—Wakefield Police have seized over 100 grams of heroin, over $8,000 in cash and other pills after a month-long investigation.

Police announced Saturday that William Saccardo, 67, of Wakefield was arrested on charges of trafficking, possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance and possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (methadone). Police arrested Saccardo by executing a search warrant through the Malden District Court.

“This was excellent work by two of our experienced, top-notch narcotics investigators who continue to fight the supply chain that helps to feed the current opioid epidemic,” Wakefield Police Chief Richard Smith said in a statement.

Police seized over 100 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of up to $10,000 dollars. Over $8,000 in cash along with other pills were also seized during the arrest.
