Wakefield Resident is New Head Football Coach at Danvers High

By Les Masterson

The Danvers High School Falcons varsity football team has a new leader.

Shawn Theriault, 32, who is a Wakefield resident and has been Andover High’s defensive coordinator for the past four years, has been named new head football coach at Danvers High,  reported the Salem News.

“Leading a program is something I’ve always wanted to do,” Theriault told the Salem News. “I didn’t want to leave Andover unless it was a good fit and Danvers is perfect. It’s a new school, the kids are tough and they want to compete and they’re also students. It’s a place where pride matters. Kids play for their colors, not just for themselves.”

Theriault takes over for Sean Rogers, who resigned on Jan. 8. Rogers went 17-26 in four years at Danvers with a 7-4 record and Northeastern Conference South title in his final season.
