The Wakefield Rotary Club celebrated its 92nd birthday this week with a mini food drive. The club aimed at collecting 92 items for the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry during its meeting on Tuesday. “We wanted to give something locally for our club’s special day,” noted Wakefield Rotarian Judy Gordon. “We hit our goal and then some.” Members were asked to each bring in a few items for donation to this week’s meeting. In total, the club collected 180 items, almost doubling its goal of 92. Gordon explained, “We were so happy when we hit 92 and members kept coming in with more bags! Even our guests brought in items. It was the perfect way to celebrate 92 years of service above self in Wakefield.”
