An investigation into sexting among students at Walpole High School is underway following reports at least 10 students may have been involved. A criminal investigation is also being conducted by the Walpole Police Department.
A concerned parent got in touch with high school officials after finding inappropriate images on a cell phone, Fox 25, Boston is reporting.
Walpole Police Department’s Deputy Chief John Carmichael told Fox 25 the cell phones have been confiscated and search warrants obtained to check the phones to see how widespread this situation may be. He also said students they interviewed were very honest and forthright with information and their involvement.
Wickedlocal.com reported that technically such photos could be classified as child pornography which is a felony. However, Carmichael told the website that his department is not looking to charge anyone but did want to raise awareness among the students.
Some student have already been suspended.
