Brandeis' Waltham Group Celebrates 50 Years

The university's largest club will recognize five decades of community service.

WALTHAM, MA – Brandeis University's Waltham Group, its largest student club and one of the oldest university-based student service organizations in the country, will celebrate 50 years this weekend with two days of fun community service activities.

The year-long commemoration will begin Oct. 8 and 9 with a festival full of exciting volunteer opportunities, a carnival for kids and a gala dinner.

The Waltham Group was founded in 1966, in an era where student activism was on the rise. Brandeis recognized its responsibility to engage with the community and offered its students the opportunity to give back to Waltham. Since its founding, more than 20,000 students have volunteered with the Waltham Group, and its work contributed to Brandeis being named the top school in the country for community engagement in 2015.
