Gun Buyback in Waltham on Sept. 20
Participants will receive Visa gift cards for turning in certain firearms.

The Waltham Police Department is hosting a gun buyback event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the American Legion Post 156 at 215 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham.
The department is partnering with the Department of Justice, the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office and Watertown Savings Bank to put on the event.

- Firearms may be turned in anonymously.
- All firearms must be unloaded with any ammunition separate.
- Participants will receive Visa gift cards for the following: $50 for a rifle or shotgun, $100 for a functioning handgun and $200 for an assault weapon.
- Weapons such as BB guns, air rifles, non-functioning firearms and knives will be accepted, but no compensation will be given.
- All of the firearms will be destroyed.
- Those who wish to turn in their firearms but do not want to transport them to the gun buyback event can do so by calling 781-893-3700 during the event. An officer will respond to their home to recover the weapons – however, no gift card will be issued.
