WELLESLEY, MA – April 25, 2014 – In response to the growing demand for more summer dance camp sessions, LINX has opened its doors to the public for auditions to participate in the new LX Dance Team Intensives. LINX has also answered the demand of LX Dance Team families for more skill training and advancement with their teams this summer. The LX Dance Team Intensive Weeks, June 30-Aug 22, 2014, are housed in the LINX Dance Studio at LINX headquarters, 141 Linden St., and LINX's Dana Hall Campus, both in Wellesley, MA.
LX Dance Director Heather Emley summarized the program stating, “Our new Summer Intensives are geared toward dancers that would like to continue their strong individualized technical training and artistic development throughout the summer months.” The new program is designed to challenge devoted intermediate and advanced dancers, who possess an unwavering attitude and desire to focus exclusively on dance with intensive training in skill development, strength exercises, and choreography. Dancers have the unique opportunity to work with championship level LX Dance Instructors including: Heather Emley (recipient of national awards), Erica Monroe (former Celtics Dancer and tap specialist), Isiah “Zay” Beasley (hip-hop specialist), Val Maio (ballet specialist), Anna Seagrave (ballet/contemporary), Megan Brown (ballet/fitness specialist), Kathryn Dunkel (jazz specialist), and many more. Additionally, each week is highlighted with instruction from a special guest teacher, exposing the dancers to other dancing and teaching techniques.
The new camp is open to returning LX Dance Team members, and non-members may participate through an audition process. A typical 9am-4pm day of camp intensives for dancers through 10th grade includes a combination of ballet and modern technique, hip-hop, tap, acro, and leaps & turns. Dancers enjoy the use of 4 dance studios and an acro room; each with specially designed Marley sprung floors to help prevent the harsh injuries and repeated collisions experienced with the traditional dance floors used in other area studios.
LINX Camps continue to offer more traditional dance camps, tailored for beginners and intermediate dancers who prefer an experience that mixes the art of dance with fun camp activities.
LINX, now in its 7th year of operation, is located at 141 Linden Street, Wellesley, MA. For information on LX Dance Team Summer Intensives or to register for camp, visit http://www.lxperformingartscamps.com/intensivesor call 781-235-3210.
