Peisch Vs. Carr, Congressional Races on Today’s Primary Ballot

It’s a rare election Thursday throughout the state, and there’s one local race on the ballot.

Rep. Alice Hanlon Peisch is up against Jerome B. Carr, both Democrats, in the race for the 14th Norfolk District seat.

Peisch, 57, has seen little challenge since assuming office in 2003, except in 2010 when she faced challenger Royall H. Switzler in the November general election. , but it was closer than most had expected.

Carr, 73, president of Wellesley-based Carr Research Laboratory, Inc., told Boston.com that he wants to repeal the current Wetland Protection Act and enact legislation that would make it allowable to “enhance” protected wetlands.

The Massachusetts Fourth Congressional seat is contended on both the Democratic and Republican side today. Barney Frank (D), who announced that he would not run for reelection last year, holds the seat.
