Police Implement New Rx Drug Take-Back Program

The instituted a new prescription drug take-back program this week.

On Tuesday, while the new high school , Norfolk County District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey was in Wellesley to publicly introduce the program and encourage the public to deposit old prescription medicines in the container – located in the lobby of the police station.

“Prescription drugs, particularly opiate-based pain pills left over from surgery, injury, even dental work, may look harmless sitting in the medicine chest, but we are finding that the opposite is true,” Morrissey said in a statement this week. “Addiction experts report that over half, and perhaps three quarters, of young people are having their first experiences with addictive opiates that were taken directly from the medicine cabinets of family or friends.”
