Week-long camps offer basketball, baseball, flag foot ball for young athletes.

Thundercat Sports To Begin Camps June 28

Bryan Gamroth, general manager of Thundercat Sports, wants to let parents and kids know he's got a lot to offer families looking for active ways to spend the summer.

The program runs skills based sports camps and programs focusing on elementary and preschool age sports lovers.

Thundercat Sports has four camps lined up this year, in cooperation with the Wellesley Recreation Department: Basketball (ages 7-12), Flag Football (ages 7-12) Sports Jam, a multi-sport camp with games, (ages 7-12) and Kiddie Cat Jam, the program's preschool offering.

A typical day at the camps starts with check in at 8:50 a.m., warm up, work on the skill of the day, morning scrimmages and then a lunch break at noon. The camp begins again with coach demonstrations, games, scrimmages and preview of the next day before wrapping up at 3 p.m. The camps run for one week, and begin June 28 with a baseball camp. Cost is $100 to $150 per one-week camp.

"We just want to let the parents know we've got a lot of youth programs," said Gamroth.

Residents can sign up for the camps at the Thundercat Sports website or at the Parks and Recreation Department.

Gamroth was at the Wellesley Free Library at 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon to speak with  families and organize some games for kids, but turnout was slim due to the predicted rain that showed up at about 4:30 p.m.

Parents can sign up for a Thundercat Sports camp at the Wellesley Recreation Department office, or via Thundercat Sports website
