Police Chief Terrence Cunningham will be taking the T tomorrow--to the North Pole. 

25 local youth charities and the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company (MBCR) joined together to bring 600 disadvantaged children on the Polar Express for a magical winter ride. The train ride will recreate that of the book, "Polar Express," and kids will be treated to a viewing of the film afterward.

Cunningham joins Diane Patrick, Massachusetts’ First Lady; Secretary Coleman Nee, Secretary of Veterans' Services; Acting General Manager of the MBTA Jonathan Davis; and Hugh Kiley, General Manager of the MBCR. 

The Wellesley Police Department is also running a toys for children drive at their headquarters.

All Aboard The North Pole Express! Commuter Rail Hosts Children’s Charities For Magical Winter Ride  

What: Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company (MBCR) will host 25 local youth charities on a magical North Pole Express train ride that will provide over 600 disadvantaged children & families with a unique holiday experience. This special event, which will recreate the heartwarming Polar Express Christmas story, will include local personalities and VIPs reading the story aloud to pajama-clad children aboard the train; decorated passenger coaches festooned in holiday regalia; holiday characters such as elves and reindeer; festive refreshments and gifts; and a special visit from Santa Claus. The travelers will also be treated to a special viewing of The Polar Express movie upon arriving back at South Station to top off the evening. 

When: Saturday, December 15th, 2012 Train departs at 4:00 p.m. (media please arrive by 3:30 p.m.)
