Baseball: The Raiders won two of three games this week but continue to trail Walpole in the Bay State Conference standings. Wellesley (10-6, 7-4 BSC) topped Brookline, 5-4, in 11 innings on Monday then before losing a 6-2 decision against Braintree on Friday. The local nine can redeem an April 27 loss and narrow the gap between themselves and the Rebels when they visit Walpole on Monday at 4 p.m.
Softball: Wellesley opened the week with an 11-1 thumping of Brookline, a victory which, coupled with last Friday’s win over Natick, represented the team’s first back-to-back W’s of the season. But the Raiders (3-12, 2-9 BSC) lost four straight to close a jam-packed week: 6-2 to Weymouth, 4-1 to Dedham, 6-2 to Weymouth, and 10-1 to Braintree.
Boys’ lacrosse: The Raider offense kept clicking, reaching double figures for the ninth time this spring in wins over Brookline and Norwood. Wellesley (13-0, 8-0 BSC) beat the Warriors, 10-5, on Tuesday and the Mustangs, 10-3, on Friday to stay atop the conference standings.
Girls’ lacrosse: After suffering its first loss last week, Wellesley won two more games this week and has now won five straight. The Raiders (10-1-1, 9-0 BSC) overwhelmed Brookline, 12-2, on Tuesday and Norwood, 12-3, on Friday.
Boys’ tennis: The Raiders sustained a second loss this week, falling to St. John’s Prep, 3-2, on Wednesday. Wellesley (8-2,6-1 BSC) rebounded with a 5-0 sweep of Norwood on Friday but now trails unbeaten Needham by two matches in the league standings.
Girls’ tennis: Wellesley picked up another four victories to stay perfect. The Raiders (11-0, 9-0 BSC) topped Brookline, 4-1, on Tuesday; Walpole, 5-0, on Wednesday; Framingham, 4-1, on Thursday; and Norwood, 5-0, on Friday.
Boys’ track and field: The Raiders snapped a three-meet skid with a 90-41 win over Norwood on Tuesday. Wellesley (4-3, 4-3 BSC) moved into a second-place tie in the Herget Division, thanks to Milton’s loss to Walpole on Wednesday.
Girls’ track and field: Wellesley enjoyed its most decisive win of the season this week, a 98-32 domination of Norwood on Tuesday. The Raiders (6-1, 6-1 BSC) remain tied with Walpole for first place in the Herget.
Boys’ volleyball: The Raiders’ quest for a victory remained, for another week at least, quixotic, as they were swept three times. Wellesley (0-13, 0-12 BSC) lost, 3-0, to Natick on Monday, Needham on Thursday and Newton North on Friday.
