Georgie Judy M. (Moodie) Guimond, 95, entered Life Eternal at her home in Westborough on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.
She was born in Melbourne, Fla. and was raised in the Houghs Neck section of Quincy. She was a graduate of Quincy High School. She was a resident of East Braintree for 57 years before moving to Bridgewater and more recently to Westborough. She was an employee of the Bradlees Distribution Center in Braintree, retiring in 1982.
Georgie was the first president of the East Braintree Womens Little League Auxiliary and was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth Landing. Since her retirement, she spent summers at the family cottage in Buzzards Bay.
She was the beloved wife of the late Earl A. Guimond, who died in 1982. She was the devoted mother of James C. Guimond, married to Jill A. Guimond, with whom Georgie resided in Westborough, and James T. Moodie, married to Dawn Moodie of Medford. She was the loving grandmother of James Arthur Guimond, Jacqui Lynn Guimond, Travers D. Moodie, and James C. Moodie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Georgie was devoted to her family and was the proud matriarch of the Guimond and Moodie families. She was sister of the late James W. Moodie (former owner of Cains Restaurant in North Weymouth) and the late Emily Peterson.
Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St., Braintree on Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 23, at a time to be announced, followed by a funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart Church, Washington Street Weymouth Landing at a time to be announced.
