All four Westborough High School grades found themselves shopping at a women's clothing boutique on Sept. 25, and perhaps recognized the owners.
Elements at the Circle is owned by residents Shams Pai and Darlene Goetz. And “between the two of us, we have seven kids. We cover almost every grade from fifth to 11th," Pai says.
The community connection is why the store has run several fundraisers, Pai and Goetz say.
“That’s important to us. It’s the stuff that we’re thinking about," Goetz says.
"It’s one way to give back to the community. We know most of our customers, and our customers I think enjoy the idea that if they’re shopping with us it helps out the community in some way.”
On Sept. 25, Pai says, “we gave each class the percentage (from profits that day) toward their year; the Class of 2014 got 14 percent,” and the top fundraising class received an extra $250. The store donated $801.91 total to the school.
Then, on Oct. 17, Elements of the Circle donated $450 -- representing 15 percent of its profits that day -- to support the Westborough High School Week of Lights.
The boutique opened Aug. 1 at 10 East Main St. -- up the street from Zinc, where Pai and Goetz first opened last year, renting space as Elements Within Zinc.
Goetz says Zinc's owner, a friend, suggested that she and Pai “look into selling clothes, and adding to the fact that she was a home décor store.”
The women started with “a few lines, just to test the waters, and tried to buy things that we thought other local women would like," Goetz says.
"We try to find what women in this area need without having to go to the mall. We wanted to offer moms and daughters an alternative to mall shopping. I think people really like that. We have unique things that we’ve searched out for them, and we know our stuff and we know our customers," she says.
The store's variety extends to its prices.
“We can dress you for a holiday party from anywhere from $40 all the way up to $250, depending on what kind of style you’re looking for, and price range,” Goetz says.
On Wednesday, Elements at the Circle will host a nutritional seminar with Cyndy Bohn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bohn is a diet coach, personal trainer, professional figure competitor and Isagenix athlete.
