Record Interest in Arts in Common

The event, which is Saturday, drew more performers than organizers can accommodate.

Record Interest in Arts in Common

Saturday's fourth annual Arts in Common festival could have used a third stage.

For the first time, organizers turned away interested acts --  more than six -- because they can accommodate just 24, event Chairman Lynn Watts said Wednesday.

All 24 spots filled during each of the first three events, she said.

"It's just been so gratifying," Watts said of the interest this year.

"Jeff Kimball (who is in charge of performers) did a superb job."

Arts in Common is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Bay State Green. The Westborough Cultural Council, the town, and individuals and businesses sponsor the festivities.

More than 50 vendors will participate, Watts said.

Admission is free at the event, which seeks to "bring the whole town together," she said.

The performers will be among the attractions.

The kid-driven SkyRise Children's Theater will perform "The Hare and the Tortoise" on the inside stage, Watts noted.

"They do a superb job," she said.

"The kids are just charming."

The Arts in Common food court will be open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Rotary Club of Westborough Grill will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips and soda, according to member Bill Domings. Tavolino will serve pizza.  Ted’s Montana Grill will serve chili. Rasoi will serve Indian selections and Bangkok Thai will serve Thai specialties.
