Chelmsford Resident Announces Candidacy for Arciero's Seat

Chelmsford Town Meeting representative Louis Marino has announced his candidacy for the Second Middlesex District seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Chelmsford Resident Announces Candidacy for Arciero's Seat

Chelmsford Town Meeting Representative Louis Marino has announced he will be running for State Representative in the Second Middlesex District this fall against incumbent Jim Arciero (D-Westford).

A newcomer to Chelmsford municipal politics, Marino moved to Chelmsford in 2009, earning a position representing Precinct 5 at Town Meeting in 2013 and also serving on the Chelmsford Recycling Committee.

Prior to moving to Chelmsford, he also served in numerous roles in West Springfield including vice chairman of the Finance Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Cable Advisory Committee.

He moved from West Springfield to Ayer before coming to Chelmsford, where he now serves as the CFO of Chelmsford Programming Services LLC.

Marino, a Libertarian, believes he will provide a new perspective on Beacon Hill, and that he will be joined by other Libertarian candidates also running elsewhere in the state, although he says he could work with other parties as well while also holding true to his own beliefs.

And while separate parts of Chelmsford are represented by four different State Representatives on Beacon Hill, Marino believes he can better serve Chelmsford’s interests as a Chelmsford resident than any of the current incumbents.

“I could offer the influence of new fresh ideas on the ways to reach compromise on the different issues affecting Chelmsford. I hope me being a voice for Chelmsford would affect legislation that directly affects Chelmsford on a positive note,” said Marino.  “I believe in liberty on all issues, not in cherry picking when I defend the rights of others”

Election Day is on Nov. 4, the Second Middlesex District consists of the towns of Littleton, Westford and precincts 5, 7 and 8 in Chelmsford.
