Regis Mourns Two Students in Two Weeks

Tragedy struck the local campus twice in nearly two weeks toward the end of the month.

Regis Mourns Two Students in Two Weeks

As the Regis College student body mourned one student, it was still in the process of grieving another.

On Sept. 27, Michael Kaplan, class of 2013, succumbed to injuries after he crashed his motorcycle into a telephone pole on Chestnut Street. A fellow student, Peter Leighton, class of 2015, was injured in the crash.

Darner Alteon, class of 2014, died in a car crash one week prior. Alteon was returning from a poetry reading Sept. 20 when the crash occurred, according to a Regis College announcement.

The campus held vigils for both students, and there has been an outpouring of support in the communities.

Lacrosseplayground.com posted the Regis College announcement of Kaplan’s death last week. Kaplan played lacrosse at Regis.

There is no word yet on Leighton’s injuries.

Weston Patch will provide updates as they become available.
