Spellman Museum Hosting Vacation Week Events

The museum's annual Happy Birthday Presidents Day will take place during the vacation week and a special reenactor will bring a former president to life.

Spellman Museum Hosting Vacation Week Events

"Let them eat cake" ... and look at stamps ... and "meet" presidents.

The Spellman Museum is holding a couple of events this week for families, beginning Sunday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m., with a visit from actor and author Ted Zalewski.

Zalewski will present his one-man, one-hour show, "Teddy Rossevelt: Mind, Body and Spirt."

"Combining history, drama and fun, Zalewski gives an impersonation of TR and presents Roosevelt's own words, writings, and beliefs," according to a release from the museum. "Cowboy, soldier, naturalist, historian, father, statesman and winner of the Nobel Prize for Peace, Theodore Roosevelt lived a life that inspires us still."

Regular museum admission applies, and there is no need to make a reservation but you may do so by sending an email to info@spellman.org.

Then, the museum will hold its annual Happy Birthday Presidents Day on Thursday, Feb. 21, from noon to 4 p.m.

"The day is a great way to learn more about all our presidents by using stamps," according to an announcement from the museum. "There will be arts and crafts activities with stamps and children can make their own presidents on stamp collections. In addition there will be stamp hunts and games for stamp prizes, people can design their own president stamps and participate in other philatelic activities."

And what would a birthday party be without cake. Guests will be invited to enjoy a piece of a presidential birthday cake.

On display will be special exhibits including, "Road to the White House," "Presidential Inaugurations" and "President Obama on Stamps of the World."
