Owner Katerina Iliades, whose family has served the Boston Greek community for decades, says many of the foods enjoyed during Lent reflect long-standing Greek culinary traditions. “Lent is a forty-day season leading up to Easter when many families embrace traditional fasting foods rooted in the Mediterranean diet,” says Iliades. “The dishes enjoyed during this time — from beans and vegetables to seafood and olive oil — have been part of Greek culinary traditions for centuries.” During the Lenten season, many Christians avoid meat and dairy, turning instead to a vibrant variety of Mediterranean dishes that are naturally plant-based and deeply rooted in Greek culinary tradition. At Greek International Food Market, customers can enjoy a wide selection of traditional homemade Lenten meals including: Okra in tomato sauce Greek string beans (fasolakia) Stuffed grape leaves (dolmades) Giant beans baked in tomato sauce (gigantes) Bean salads and Mediterranean vegetable dishes The market also carries a large variety of Lenten pantry staples and imported Greek products, including vegan Greek pies, Mediterranean vegetables, canned and dried beans, and an extensive olive bar featuring a wide selection of Greek olives. Randolph, MA — One person is dead after a car crash on Route 28, police said. At 3:50 p.m., state police responded to a single-car crash near Interstate 93 in Randolph. A preliminary investigation indicates that a 50-year-old man from West Roxbury was traveling on Route 28 South under Interstate 93 when his vehicle left the roadway, traveled onto the sidewalk, and struck a bridge abutment. The operator was transported to Milton Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The cause of this crash remains under investigation, police said. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending family notification.

Our Walk for Hunger starts at 11AM and is approx 2 miles.

There will be a cookout and a celebration after.
A drawing of the participants' maps for prizes at 12:30pm.
We have Commonwealth Team Status which means Rose's Bounty receives 60% of what we raise to use in the parkway area and 40% goes to other hunger initiatives around the Commonwealth.
