IMAGE GALLERY: New Farmers Market Bursts With Local Flavor

Vendors welcomed a hefty crowd of veteran farmers market shoppers on Tuesday.

For fans of locally-grown produce, it was a day to remember. 

Set on the backdrop of the lawn, the Westwood Farmers Market finally arrived on Tuesday, much to the delight of shoppers who have been waiting for a market they could call their own. 

"I'm so delighted they've moved [here]," said Westwood resident Linda Milano, who used to frequent the Norwood Farmers Market.

Five of the six vendors at the market all moved to Westwood's lot from the Norwood Farmers Market, save for a new addition: Copicut Farms, which offered eggs and chickens to customers on Tuesday.

The market officially kicked off at 1 p.m., and even before the veritable doors were opened, customers were lining up to shop.

"I've sold a lot of stuff already," Jim Cellucci, owner of Great Harvest Bread Co., said around 1:25 p.m. Tuesday.

Market coordinator Shirley Robbins, who also owns Paradise Hill Farm, reiterated the statement, and was grateful to see such support right off the bat.

"I think it's been excellent," Robins said. "We have a very good customer base. We are very fortunate." 

Customers sorted through a variety of goods Tuesday, from breads to produce to meat. 

"Anytime I'm around, I'll be here," Milano said. "You have to support local farmers."
