Rockland Fire Truck Crashes In Weymouth
The truck drove off Rt. 18 after the driver suffered a medical emergency, officials said.

WEYMOUTH, MA – A Rockland fire truck went off the road in Weymouth Wednesday afternoon, crashing into a utility pole, officials said. The a 1999 Smeal 105-foot ladder truck was being driven by an employee of a North Haven, CT-based repair company who suffered an apparent medical emergency around 4 p.m., according to a statement.
The crash happened on Rt. 18 near Main Street in Weymouth. The truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
The driver, who was the only person in the truck at the time of the crash, was uninjured and taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The pole and truck both sustained minor damage, officials said. The truck was returned to the Rockland fire station, where it will remain out of service until it can be driven to the repair shop in North Haven.
