Weymouth Town Council President Patrick O'Connor Wins State Senate Election
O'Connor defeated former Hull Selectman Joan Meschino.

WEYMOUTH, MA - Weymouth's town council president has a new job.
Patrick O'Connor defeated former Hull Selectman Joan Meschino in Tuesday's special election to replace Robert Hedlund in the state Senate. Hedlund vacated the seat for the Plymouth-Norfolk District after winning November's Weymouth mayoral election.
"Tonight, voters in the Plymouth and Norfolk district sent a clear message in favor of fiscal discipline and accountability on Beacon Hill. Patrick O'Connor's election to the state senate affirms that Governor Baker's message of lower taxes and a more efficient state government is resonating across Massachusetts. Senator-elect O'Connor will be a strong successor to carry on former Senator Hedlund's leadership, and we congratulate him on his victory," MassGOP Chairman Kirsten Hughes said in a statement.
