MassDOT Announces Detours on the Rte. 38 Bridge in September
MassDOT will be doing maintenance work on the bridge. Here are some ways around the road work.

WILMINGTON – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that detours will be in place in Wilmington on the Route 38 Bridge beginning in the evening on Friday, September 9 and concluding Monday morning, September 12, and then again detours will be in place September 23 until September 26.
Bridge maintenance work will be taking place and will involve installing shoring posts and jacking girders.

Beginning at 8 p.m., September 9, vehicle traffic in the area will be detoured until 5 a.m., Monday, September 12. Detours will again be in place from 8 p.m., Friday, September 23 through 5 a.m., Tuesday, September 26. The detours are as follows:
- Vehicles traveling northbound on Route 38 will be detoured onto Eames Street and then Woburn Street and then Route 129.
- Vehicles traveling southbound will be detoured onto Route 129 and then Woburn Street and then Eames Street.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce speed while traveling through the area.

The Route 38 Bridge is located above commuter rail tracks in Wilmington but the bridge maintenance work will not impact commuter rail service. The MBTA Lowell Line Commuter Rail service is expected to operate as scheduled, though customers may experience minor delays.
