May 21,WILMINGTON, Mass. - Earlier this month, Reading Co-operative Bank's Wilmington Branch Manager, Nancy Brown, met with students at Shawsheen School and held a Teach Children to Save seminar. Teach Children to Save seminar was attended by everyone and Miss Sadowski’s first grade class enjoyed Brown’s presentation as depicted in the picture. The half hour class, included a demonstration of different coins and their values and instruction about the importance of saving through $mart $aver worksheets. Reading Co-operative Bank also provided each of the 354 students with an RCB coloring book, crayons, and a $mart $aver worksheet to help them to better understand the material that Brown explained.
"I had a wonderful time working with these bright youngsters; they were very attentive and asked great questions," says Brown. "It is a wonderful opportunity for kids to learn about savings from a very young age; even the adults can learn from these educational seminars that RCB hosts. One teacher even commented to me that she also learned something and she was glad I was invited to speak with these kids," added Nancy Brown, Branch Manager at the Wilmington Office of Reading Co-operative Bank.
“The students loved having Reading Co-operative Bank come into the classrooms and they really appreciated and enjoyed the coloring books and crayons,” says Assistant Principal Lisa King.
