Speeding Stop Results in Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest Charges
The following is an excerpt from the  Wilmington Police log from Friday, Feb. 28, to Sunday, March 2.

Friday, Feb. 28

  • At 2:05 a.m. a Grove Ave. caller reported that their next door neighbor’s dog has been outside barking for three hours. Officers checked the area and found an open door in the back. Police spoke to the homeowner who brought the dog in for the night.
  • At 6:58 a.m. an Eastgate Liquors employee reported that it appeared someone may be living next to the building in cardboard boxes lined with blankets. Officers checked the building and it seems it is the mechanical unit lined with protective covering.
  • At 2:20 p.m. a safe was reported missing from a business on Shawsheen Ave.
  • At 3:18 p.m. on Hathaway Road, a caller reported her son and girlfriend are intoxicated and she would like them removed from the residence.  A 46-year-old Wilmington woman was taken into protective custody.
  • At 7:28 p.m. a Main Street resident reported that he arrived home and the front door was smashed in and the place was torn apart.
  • At 9:08 p.m. police arrested Justin F. Schuurman, 24, of 10 Burlington Ave. Apt. 117, Wilmington, for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and no inspection sticker.

Saturday, March 1

  • At 1:23 a.m. a caller reported a man standing in the Big Joe’s parking lot screaming that he is cold. The Fire Department transported the man to a nearby hospital.
  • At 6:36 a.m. a Lawrence Street resident said she was walking her dog and believes a coyote is following her. The resident said it was actually a German Sheppard and everything appeared fine.
  • At 11:10 a.m. officers returned with one person under arrest after a traffic stop for speeding. Juvani A. Scolastico, 19, of 21 Liberty Street, Wilmington, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and speeding.
  • At 11:57 a.m. an erratic operator was reported turning onto Richmond Street from Main Street. Units arrived at the operator’s house. The party checked OK. He claimed he was just tired and texting. Officers filed a report on the incident. 

Sunday, March 2

  • At 4:32 p.m. a Birchwood Road homeowner requested police assistance. The tenants of the property would not allow her into the home to do a scheduled inspection.
  • At 6:41 p.m. a 911 caller requested an ambulance, but then changed her mind. Officers checked the home and all parties checked OK. The residents said they will call back if they decide they do need medical attention.
