WOW Preparing for Annual Kim Forte Run/Walk

This year's race is scheduled to take place on April 27 on Town Common.

WOW Preparing for Annual Kim Forte Run/Walk
For the fourth straight year, the Women of Wilmington are preparing to honor a community member who in death left behind a lasting memory.

The now annual WOW 5k Run for Wilmington and Kim Forte Walk will take place this year on April 27 beginning at 11 a.m. on Town Common.

Last year more than 400 residents from throughout the region participated in the event, and organizers anticipate even more will join this year.

Forte was killed in 2011 when she was struck by an impaired driver while walking home from a local gym.

Local businesses from throughout Wilmington help sponsor the event, and additional sponsorship opportunities are still available.

"With this sponsor support, WOW expands its ability to help to the many Wilmington families in need with items such as school supplies, clothing, food, and household goods," according to a press release on the event. "What’s more, they realize families face hardships beyond financial need and provide service such as meal deliveries, yard clean up, house keeping, and rides to appointments."
